Not all Christians take all chapters of the Bible literally & certainly religious scholars don't but all Christians are in agreement that the Bible was inspired by God.

Genesis consists of different types of stories written by various authors. 1) is the allegory (figurative story w/veiled meaning). The Bible doesn't teach science; it teaches religious values. The point of the story is God's msg - not the details.

2) Fables chosen by some authors to convey his msg &

3) Short stories & historical novel as found in Genesis 37-50. The core of the stories is historical; the authors using tradition to bring out a religious lesson.

As a Catholic I was never aware of this until I began reading my Bible which contains a background on each part of the Bible with information re the customs & traditions of the people when the chapters were believed to have been written & how they affected the various authors & their styles of bring the msg to us.

Genesis is not clearly false, you simply have a bias in the way that you look at the facts (or perhaps the people who tell you what to believe have a bias when they look at the facts). I also have a bias, and it happens to be a different one than yours. I'm not saying that I can prove that Genesis is plain truth to you, but I will point out that much scientific "proof" about the origins of the world is speculation. Historical science can't be tested in a scientific way, because it is not repeatable, and neither is it falsifiable and all conclusions tend to fit the bias of the person doing the research.

Well, see the people that believe Genesis to be the truth, have faith that the Bible is the holy book, the word of God. Since their God doesn't lie, then this story must be the truth. Until science can conclusively prove that the Earth started some other way, nobody can say that Genesis is "clearly false". Although I don't believe it to be true, I can't absolutely negate its validity.

Everything had an origin somewhere, so even if Genesis had been misinterpreted throughout the millennia, there could still be some small truth in it, that we don't know of.

Have you found positive Genesis is false? And can you guarantee that statement 100%?
I'm not bashing, I don't like people saying things they can't back up.

How can you say it is clearly false were you there? Are you absolutely sure that you are making the right judgement, that is above God's word? Are you sure that you are not the one that is deluded?I'm not bashing either just curious about your deductions.

Well, you say it's false because of your unbelief in God and His word - simple and plain. You reject God and His word, so what's the point of even answering your question? As for deluded people, I believe you are the one that is deluded because you deny God's word to be the truth. However, God is the judge - not me. I hope you will be more open-minded about the bible! Remember that God is infallible, perfect and eternal! He cannot lie because there is no sin in Him! If you refuse to believe God's word as truth, then that's sad - just hope you will be more open-minded about the bible because, as I said, God cannot lie, so therefore, His word is clearly TRUE!

Why do you say Genesis is clearly false?

I haven't seen anything that would bring that conclusion about Genesis.

"...clearly false..."

Please state some facts, or even one fact, backing up your assertion. Here is an example of a fact:

NO SINGLE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY that has been shown to prove error, factually or doctrinally, in the Bible, a singularly coherent book written over the course of 1500 years by 40 vastly different authors.

What qualifies you to critique the worlds oldest and most read book? You are the deluded one.
