You want to get out of the house, NOT out of this country and into some war. Is there a Community College near you? If your grades are not all that great that is a good place to start with your college experience. Can you work and rent an inexpensive place to live? It really depends on what grade your in now, how your grades are, etc. It may not be as difficult as you think to get into a state school (usually cheaper too). If you are a senior now then I suggest doing everything NOW as it's already getting really late. File your applications and do the FAFSA (for financial aid) ASAP!!!! Talk to you counselor at school, check out the universities you're interested in etc. ASAP. College is a cool experience. I'm sure it's more fun then the military and quite a bit safer too. It doesn't sound like you'd be joining for the right reason anyway. What about taking a year off and traveling or working/volunteering (or whatever). Our daughter is doing that now and will be going to college in the fall. Whatever you choose to do-Good Luck to You!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never been involved with the military, so I'm not the person to ask about that. However, if you'd rather go to a university and need some financial aid, I recommend filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ . This can really help you out if money is a limiting factor, since it can help you qualify for loans and grants that can get you through college.

You can select a college according to your academic credentials. Do you have a high school diploma, or a GED? What is your GPA? You'll also need to take the SAT, and the score will make a big difference in what colleges you can apply to. Depending on the college, you might also need recommendations from a couple of your high school teachers.

Once you compile this stuff, ask an academic counselor or a teacher to help you consider what schools might be a good fit for you. Good luck!

You should make a list of pros and cons that will impact your future. Never make a life changing decision to solve an immediate problem without giving it good analysis. Getting out of the house is important to you, but your focus should be one what you WANT to do, not what do DON'T want anymore.

Having been subjected to both of these myself, you should really think this through so that whatever you choose, you do not regret it.

Joining the military WILL break you down to your core, then they will build you back up the way they want you, which will ultimately form you into a solid person. You do not own your self, your time, or your life. If you need to learn basics of life because of an unfair upbringing, the military is for you. They will give you a purpose when you have none. You will have veteran benefits for the rest of your life. Failure is not an option. Your life will be dictated and will learn how to accept it. You will learn to adapt and will have impeccable self-confidence.

However, if you are ambitious, a good decision maker, and know how to take control of your life...college is the way to go. You will be presented with choices on your success that you can make or break on your own. Your life will be your choice, and if you fail you will have no one to blame but yourself. You will face debt, but if you are ambitious, you will find a way to make it work.

Once you make an exhaustive list, your decision will be clearly visible.

If your lists don't work and you're still undecided. Live the life for a day. Make the decision to go military. Tell no one. Live it for a day. How do you feel? Then, the next day, decide to go college. Which one got you wound up? This one always works. You can't help the way you feel.

Good luck.

Be Proud, Be a man, get a free education in the United States Air Force. You will not regret it!! You can get so much experience, see the world, no better education than that. Do you want to be like the kids coming out of college, now days? When you get out, you will have a great education, and you will not owe anyone anything. You will meet some beautiful women in other countries, and around the United States... Good Luck..

I suggest you join the military and learn how to shoot some real terrorist.. I mean look at the world now man,,, it's not going to be the same after 911. There's no point going to college and ended up in some corporate buildings and finally blown up by some stupid terrorist.

Don't you worry bout going to Iraq man.. that's where you going to learn of becoming a real man.. know what I mean?? College are for looses and they won't teach you how to make bombs.

Think about this first...if you join now..you may end up in Iraq...I am not kidding here...what do YOU want??
(at this writing ..that would most likely be your option...truthfully for the Air Force....they need some good men and women....do you want to go now?)

otherwise...College might be a great choice!!!

Not trying to talk you out of your choices...just trying to show you a way...either way...you will learn..but, think before you DO!

hmm... should you spend four or more years in school and more than likely owe thousands in student loans that you more than likely won't be paying off for a while as the odds of going straight into a career out of college is low and dropping, or go into the military for four or more years and have a high probability of being shipped to one of the many middle-east or asian countries (which hate us) for even longer and risk getting injured, sick, lost, captured or killed on a daily basis. i can see the difficulty in choosing between the two. go ahead and thumb me down, but you know i'm right.

nicely, the difficulty is, in case you connect after college your in user-friendly terms option is to enlist, which means you would be an E3 or perhaps E4, yet you may understand you would be like a fish out of water between your friends, a number of whom might under no circumstances even have the means to graduate college, some who might under no circumstances evaluate it, some who might, yet my factor is which you're in a feeling taking a step down in keeping with you training. Now, if I had sensed a keenness in you question to connect the protection stress, then i might say which you may "decide for it." With the army, not sure on the different branches, you may enlist yet additionally incorporate on your settlement Officer Candidate college following effortless or AIT (not sure precisely how that works) yet you would be on a course to being an officer, which may be extra in line inclusive of your training. whether, if for any reason you do no longer end OCS, whether by technique of no fault of your guy or woman, you may revert to the enlisted area of the domicile. on the enlisted area, your degree won't rely in any respect in terms of the occupational forte you have, so it won't rely which you have a level in biology or hospitality or regardless of. BTW, you are able to no longer in basic terms connect as an officer, you may could do ROTC (too previous due now) or OCS after effortless education (military, not sure on different branches precisely how they artwork that). yet you may understand you would be committing to a great actual and psychological attempt in starting to be a member of the protection stress whether you head in the direction of the officer area or the enlisted. that is not something you in user-friendly terms do as a area observe. Noting the shortcoming of interest on your question, i'm in basic terms no longer so specific that's the superb theory for you.
