nature vs. nurture is a scientific debate, why would you draw in the Bible? Why not Aesop's fables too?

Sorry, don't get it.

In what way, they are not comparable? The bible does not address the nature/nurture issue. It believes that people are driven by their natures and the nurture struggles to quash it. The real nature vs nurture debate takes place in an arena the bible can't enter. If you email me with a more specific idea of how they compare, I may be able to help you more.

Well, you were off to a good start and then you had to throw the Bible into it. What the hell does the Bible have to do with anything, given our present day concept of nature? Any treatise on nature vs. nurture would be based on sociology and psychology, not religion. Good luck with that paper.

Concepts of both nature and nurture appear in the Christian Bible if you look hard enough.
The Bible says that man has a "sinful nature" or "earthly nature", often connected to the "flesh". Most Christians agree that man is by nature sinful, and is doomed to death by his sin. Only by the grace of God can he be saved.
The Bible also deals with issues of choice and psychology, what most people consider "nurture". Most Christians agree that God gives us free will, and we are bound to the judgment of our own decisions.
So, the Bible introduces concepts of both nature and nurture, as competing forces for the souls of human beings. You could also look at this further, such as the case of God's "chosen people", generally regarded to be the nation of Israel or the Jews. You could bring in the concept of nature versus nature as it relates to race and religion. Are Jews born Jews, or are they Jews because they follow God? Also, the theories and controversies surrounding the nature/nurture debate are tied closely to theories of evolution and creationism (also called intelligent design). Whether human beings are who they are because of destiny, design, or their own making is a question which mankind has grappled with for centuries, if not millennia. Hopefully you'll have enough for your paper.

Good luck! Almost any theme or "fact" you come up with can be contradicted by another version of the Bible.
