Do I still have to file as single due to the fact that she doesn't work and doesn't have a w2?

If youre married, you MUST file either "married filing jointly" or "married filing separately". Filing "single" is NOT an option for married taxpayers.

Whether your wife works or not does not have an effect on your filing status.

Actually, you aren't even allowed to file as single. Yes, you can file a joint return, and that would allow you to pay lower taxes than your only other option, married filing separately. Filing a joint return does NOT require that both parties had income.

Yes. The fact that she has no income is of no importance. Just consider her a homemaker as her occupation. I do many tax returns for wealthy clients whose wives do nothing but spend the husband's money and they still file jointly so they can get that extra exemption and save a little money.

It doesn't matter is only one spouse has income. It is almost always better to file a joint return than to file separately. YOU CAN'T FILE AS SINGLE BECAUSE YOU ARE MARRIED!

You can file jointly. The fact she doesn't have a w2 doesn't matter.
