Men in Military

Body: One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here
in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and
welcoming people were to him, and his troops, everywhere he goes,
telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing
to serve and fight for not only our own freedoms but so that others may
have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at
yesterday; on his way home from the base.

He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman
dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly
remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock.

The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly," Yes, I
always wear it and probably always will."

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to
stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm
around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm
and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

"Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have
fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a
check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had
you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be
there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so
loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back
to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are
obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

IF YOU AGREE...Pass this on to all your proud American friends.

I JUST DID!!!

U better watch the news, and economic trade a bit more carefully dear. After the bombing of the American twin towers: total the amount of deaths there, then look at the Iraqi war and total that.

Yes ur president helped them overcome a terrible Parliament, but now that its being sorted, what is ur soldiers still doing there

Besides (I'm from South Africa By-The-Way): did u know that the American social standing has deteriorated amongst the people of other countries, that we do not stand in awe of ur aura any longer..

America was once a Power country...mmm, if ur president took different action after the bombing, u would have had more countries standing behind y'all (and gotten justice), now even the United Nations disapproves ur actions.

Dont expect u to hide or anything, just to view things from both perspectives

I applaud you.

My son was in the Air Force. I was a child of the 60's ......you know make love not war. I have now realized what a huge price our country has paid for our freedom. We can't begine to understand other countries and why we are fortunate to be able to go where we want to go and say what we want to say.

The world is full of chasos. I wish it weren't so. but the reality is that there are crazy crazy violent people out there. We would be suffering more 911's if we didn't have our military. We have no idea the dangers our military face day by day so that we can continue to be free. I can't begin to fully understand the politics of the world. But, I do know that the fighting needs to stop.......but we also need to protect ourselves and trust our forces that they know more than we know.

When I went to see my son in the Air Force, I was amazed at the quality of the young men and women there. As americans we need to be very proud of them.

Also......if we don't like being involved in the middle east then we need to stop driving SUV'.s. Stop living in one city and driving to another city. We need to demand alternative fuels or let oil be harvested from our own lands..........we have plenty. Why is it ok to drill in the middle east but not on our own land??? Extreem.

We need to stop depending on the middle east for our gas.
We need to stop being double faced when it comes to our affluence and our high ideals. They don't match.
