I took French for four years in high school, but that makes two years since I've had a class. I'd like to be able to read literature in French and I'm thinking of starting small.

What are some low-level (possibly children's books) in French that would help me refresh my French skills. I'm referring to stuff like *Le Bon Lion* and *Le Bonhomme* (both spectacular works ;p).

I highly recommend Le Petit Nicolas by Sempé-Goscinny (as well as Le Petit Nicolas et les copains, Les Recrés du Petit Nicolas, etc) . There are several very amusing 4-5 page stories in each book with charming illustrations. Le Petit Prince is also fabulous. The Astérix comic books (by Goscinny) are another light-hearted way to improve your reading skills. French children have been reading these books for years, so they are quite cultural as well. You can order these books at Amazon. Sometimes you can find Le Petit Nicolas and Le Petit Prince in the kid section of larger book stores like Barnes and Noble. Bon courage!
