My older child went through this stage. It's SO frustrating. She's very upset that her girl parts are "wet". So now she's obsessing over wiping and cries that she "feels" like she has to go potty. I know these feelings are normal, and that's part of development, but how have other parents dealt with this phase? She doesn't have any medical condition (like bladder infection or UTI or anything). Suggestions very welcome.

I teach preschool and I have had little girls go through this every year. It is frustrating for us and them.

Is she wiping herself good? I found that if I give the little girls flushable wipes in the bathroom they feel that they are wiping themselves much better. Many times they don't wipe very well at all and they get wet that way.

Is she drinking a lot still? If she has a sippy cup I would take it away. Many times children that still have the sippy cup end up drinking way too much and pee all the time. They need to fill up on food rather than juice.

I would make it a rule that she must go whenever you send her to the bathroom so when you go into a store make her go first thing so you know her bladder is empty.

Make sure at home she goes to the bathroom herself like a big girl. No need to cry and whine. She goes when she wants and if that is a million times a day then it is what it is. She'll get over it soon.

check her girl 'parts' for irritation and use a shampoo sprinkler to rinse the 'parts' thoroughly after baths.. Sometimes left over bubble bath or soap can make 'parts' very uncomfortable. I went through this until I found that bubble bath was bothering my little girl and it was a very famous brand too! Also when I scrubbed the tub out before she took a bath, I had to make sure all the cleanser was doubly rinsed out or it was irritation time.. the shampoo sprinkler was a good investment as it started to help immediately. Make sure the water isn't too cold or two hot and before baby gets out of the tub give that area a final rinse.
Give clear water to drink at least once a day to flush acids out of the kidneys.

My daughter went through that and yep, it's frustrating! I found that when we were really busy mysteriously she didn't have to go very often, so I tried to keep her busy, and she did just grow out of that.

She's older now and has worse issues, okay...
