They like to pick and choose what suits them. The whole bible and it's teachings and past is an Inconvenient truth that they don't want to accept. It is too hard for them to live up to and even more so so many contradictions and contrasting laws & rules they can't even do them all.
Some parts of the old testament are too cruel and dark for them so they ignore it and make excuses for not following the laws they don't like.
Some just don't fit their comfortable lifestlye.

i dont know why some of the so called christians cherry pick the old testament. i know i dont there is alot of types and shadows of things to come in the old testament for the new testament that helps back up what i believe today. if they were true christians they would read all of Gods word and obey it.

You have never met a true Christian. The Old Testament is just as important to us as the New Testament.
Jesus Christ came into the world to fulfill the law, the Old testament, not to alter it or change it or do away with it.

Dont forget how they ignore parts like.. god telling folks to eat feces,
(Ezekiel 4:12-13)
And dont think they dont pick over the new testament too.
Do you see women fighting to stay silent in church like they are meant to?
Do you see women BOYCOTTING jewelry stores and designer clothing stores (bible says women are not meant to wear fancy garb and jewelry).
I think this is the main reason for the popularity of christianity. You can pretty much pick out the parts you like, or are easy for you to follow, and yell at everyone elses shortcomings.

In the book of Mark, Jesus seeks to invalidate some of what is taught in the Old Testament. Who knows how much more he would have invalidated if he had more time.

It is essential, as it is self-contradictory in many places. If in one place it says A, and in another it says Not A, you have to pick and choose.
