Over the weekend i noticed my cat had hurt his foot (his left paw had blood and i noticed one of the nails looked like it was hurt) I thought it would just heal itself. Now he ran outside when I got home earlier and once i got him in, his nail/paw is bleeding again. Is it possible for his to have ripped off his nail in a fight or anythng? Would this need emergency care or could it wait til morning

Thank you all. Just as a clearness of the situation, it isn't oozing blood or anything like that. I was wearing a white robe and noticed a few small spots of blood. Then after my daughter got done holding him there were a couple small blood spots on her shirt. Over the weekend when I first noticed the injury, it was't as bad because he probably irritated it more. He is still running all over and playing. But he is only 8 months so I guess that is expected, injured or not

This is not a serious injury, he likely has ripped a claw and that will bleed quite a bit but it's not life threatening. I would feel the foot to see if it is warmer that the others. If so it could be the start of an infection and it might be a good idea to wipe it well with an anti-bacterial solution. Keep him inside until things seem to be normal again, a day or 2 should do the trick.

While the injury is not immediatey life threatening, the paw has to be seen by the vet and treated. No; its not an "emergency" and could wait till the morning. And yes, a cat's claws can get ripped to the quick from fighting or getting it caught in something. Since it is the paw, you can be sure that it could become infected very quickly. So I think you will need antibiotics. Tae kitty to the vet tomorrow.

As long as it's not bleeding uncontrollably, it can wait until morning. I would however be at the vet clinic first thing. I had a kitty that ripped his nail off the nailbed, that exposed the bone. It wouldn't have been an issue otherwise. But with the bone exposed, it could cause a bone infection, if left untreated, could kill him. So it was a good thing we went to the vet. If your kitty is an outdoor cat, I would also keep him indoors until his nail is completely healed to prevent other possible infections. Hope I helped. :)

I say it can wait till the morning but it shouldnt wait longer than the morning. I have a cat and when his ear got a a rip from a fight, it was an emergancy. But your cats bleeding isnt that bad, but still take it to the vet as soon at u can, just in case.
Good Luck!

When that happened to my cat I soaked his paw in warm salt water and called the vet in morning. The cat didn't like the water much, but it helped prevent infection. You didn't say how badly it's bleeding. The answer to that question should tell you whether it's an emergency or not. Don't let him go outside again tonight.

He shoulda been to the vet already, like this weekend when it first happened. At this point, if it's just oozing, get him in first thing in the morning. If it's gushing blood then go tonight.
It's oozing now because it's gotten infected, cats are good at hiding injuries and keeping them clean so you don't notice it. Then they get abscesses that break open and ooze.

maybe you should keep youre cat inside the house so that he can be safer not running around and hurt hisself over agian if he end up running around front of the yard again or got lossed then he might maybe end up dead or got hit by the cars that does come in youre neighborhood . if he does feel sp painful right now you should call youre veterinarian clinic and set a appointment or just take him to the clinic so that the doctor can check his injury foots .

It can definitely wait...probably dont even need to take him to the vets unless there is significant swelling. Just the fact that he was RUNNING outside should give you some indication on how good/bad he is doing. Take care.

Yeah, I think your right about the fight.
And it can wait until morning, unless there is more blood than an adverage washcloth can easily soak up. If there is a lot of blood and you can't stop it, see a vet now.
