We're more alike than not alike. If your parents don't like it, tough. Bring her over for dinner and let them see there's nothing to fear. If her parents don't like it, tough. Have them come to Mass understand we both worship the Lord alone.

Luther was excommunicated from the Catholic church many centuries ago. They are very different and somewhat alike. You should learn a bit more of your own religion.

The closest of the Protestant religions.
I would say outside of most Orthodox denominations, Lutheranism is the Closest to Roman Catholic.

The Catholic church excommunicated Martin Luther and declared that his followers were heretics. It's difficult to be more distant than that.
This being said, the Middle Ages are over and you should date whoever you want , not regarding what branch of delusion they were raised in.

I was brought up Lutheran, but I don't practice it. Lutherans believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and aren't so big on Mary or the Pope. They also believe that communion is Christ's actual body and bread and blood and wine at the same time. I never could understand that one. Go read up on Wikipedia for more info.
If you like the girl, screw your parents. There's enough religious intolerance in the world.

Actually, they are quite close in belief although they do have some rather serious differences in practice. I know the best answer king on here is Catholic. Perhaps he can give you more specifics.

Sorry sweetie, it isn't close at all.
Lutherans have alot of trappings that appear Catholic; in looks only. Not much else.

Pretty close but they don't follow the pope or worship the virgin. They still observe lent, Ash Wednesday, and all the other holidays, and still do confirmation and first communion. Oh they don't do confession to priests either.
