well you are not a professional.. yes those piercings are neat.. but there is a certain placement you have to get.. yo it does not get irritated by the movement... there is a KEY placement. and you are not experienced... so you do have a high risk of the piercing rejecting... why not just take it out and have it done PROFESSIONALLY... if it is a light pinkish color and there are red exit holes around the piercing than that could be a sign of it rejecting.. also it could be keloids. hypertrophic scarring(due to poor placement and inappropriate jewelry)
i would take ti out and have it redone if i were you...
but to answer yoru question. a tpical infection is redness, swelling, the piercing having the sensation of feeling "hot" green or yellow discharge and pain..
i do not know how long it wil take to heal. but i imagine up to a year.. maybe more since there is so much movement in the hand. plus if you get it snagged on something OUCH! i cant even imagine! lol
but please have someoen who is experience with hand web piercings and have them do it for you! you dont want a piercing liek that rejecting! and leaving a huge scar on your hand!

im hoping you do knwo the aftercare. liek amild anti bacterial soap and sea salt soaks (the most important thing) and you know NEVER to use hydrogen peroxide. alcohols, or neosporin especially for THAT piercing! ointmenst can collect dirt and drag it into the piercings. also clog the exit holes for any discharge to eascape... trapping it and caseing an infection.. and peroxiedes and alcohols kill the good tissues and good bacterias. not to mention dries otut he piercing and you skin!!!!)

An infection will be red, swollen, pussy, and tender. Seeing as how you just pierced this and I have never heard of anyone doing it there, I have no idea how long it will take to heal. A piercing should be a little sore so I would just keep an eye on it and if you develope a fever or the swelling doesn't go down then see a doctor about some antibiotics. For now, just make sure to keep the area clean with antibiotic soap several times a day and anytime you use the bathroom.

It doesn't sound infected; with most infections there will be more noticeable swelling, tenderness [and sometimes heat], and coloured pus. If you aren't sure about aftercare and healing time I suggest you consult your piercer, but I usually hear sea salt soaks work well with minimal complications. Since it's a surface piercing I'm not sure how long you'd be able to leave the jewelry out without having it close up again; you'll definitely want to ask your piercer about that too. Good luck!

Infections are red, swollen, tender and will have green discharge.
It most likely will not heal. Finger web piercings get knocked around too much to be a viable long term piercing.
While you have it, do sea salt soaks, and try not to get it dirty. Don't touch it or play with it, try not to bang it into things, etc.

Try getting the solution they give out when you pierce your ears. I think they sell little bottles of it a jewelry boutiques. If it does get red, go to a doctor, but it sounds fine. Just treat it like you do your ears when you pierce them

Infection may have set in, try cleaning with H2O2, rinse with with H2O. Observe for 24 hours if still "raised" and you have any discoloration or oozing seek medical help ASAP!
