I think opposite personality types often attract, such as outgoing and shy, anxious and calm. It's not a science, I'm very shy and would still prefer a partner on the more reserved side. What they mean when they say opposites don't attract is areas like race, religion, education, income, interests, even age. In those areas, people prefer people like themselves. And sociological studies show the more alike two people are in these areas, the more likely the relationship is to last. But again, you don't have to limit yourself to any "type" of person.

Well, I'm very shy and quiet and I'm naturally attracted to outgoing people, not shy people. I think opposites do attract, but some opposites are just too much. I think a loud and a shy person could make it work...it balances things out. Some things are deal breakers, though...like religion. If 2 people are from different religions and their religion is very important to them, then it most likely wouldn't work for them....that would too much of an opposite.

Opposites do actually attract. I'm shy and quite(but not boring), and kind've a "good girl". Every single guy I've ever been with has been my total opposite. Out-going, flirty, your typical bad-a**. I think if were to be w/someone who was quiet just like me, we would have a very dull relationship. I feel like, when two opposites are together they seem to kind've balance each other out.

Try to place both positive poles of a couple of magnets together, or both negatives. You can't do it! Opposites attract. Same with people to some extent.
Maybe that's why about seventy percent of marriages between 'compatibility-matched' couples end in failure, according to one study.

Well firstly your generalizing, people that are shy and "boring" arent just these things, they may also be smart, kind, caring, understanding, funny. People have many different aspects which can attract all sorts of people. Try not to be so one sided.

No. Just go for what you like. I learned the hard way and I somewhat regret not going for it. I'm quiet and shy but I was VERY sure this loud, opinionated girl was into me. And she was hot but I never talked to her. So yeah, just do what you feel.
