I want to join the Coast Guard but in the mean time, I need an associates degree so that I can go to a good college once I'm out. I have heard that they pay for school while you are in the service but is it even possible to go to school during that time?

Yes, they should have a college office to help you with stuff like this. The Navy has the Navy College Office. Every branch has something similar, but the name may be different. Ask your recruiter. You should be able to finish your BA degree on active duty too, it is all up to you and how hard you want to work and yes they will pay for it through tuition assistance.
