This happened a year ago - i was into this guy who all my girlfriends thought was "good looking" - he's a good guy. One of my girlfriends asked my best friend (who's a guy) what he thought of me and the guy i was interested in.
He said, "I don't like the guy. She's way too good for him...i think she deserves better..."
She asked him if he was jealous and said he wasn't...pssh whatever
and i've been hearing rumors for the past three years that my best friend has always had a thing for me...but always kinda hid - apparently from everyone else's point of view, it was very "obvious"
what do you think? gentleman? nerd?

Yeah, guys feel like their crush, female best friend, girlfriend, etc. will get taken away, and they won't be #1 anymore. A guy may feel that the girl has a lot more options than just him. There's only so much a guy can do, and it's intimidating to know that there could be one attribute in another guy to just take her away.
That could apply for girls jealous of other girls, too.

Guys and girls are not friends in the mans view. He is only working towards something more. Yes, he is jealous. All guys don't take kindly to ANY other guy around the girl they are interested in. Have you ever watched the nature channel? He is neither a gentleman or a nerd over this behavior he is simply normal.

jealousy an evolutionary behavioural and physiological adaption which is ment to make the guy get rid off other male competition by having unexplained dislike. Guys do it cause they can neva be sure of there childs paternity and women get jealous cause they dont want to loose their bread winner to a rival female.
k on to the question well your guy friend may actually have a good reason to not like him since guys relate differently around each other then they do when a female is in a group. for example he might be hanging with the guy in the group and the topic is chiks and sex and ur best male friend probably doesnt like the way this guy treats women. he might seem nice to u but guys act differently around other guys then they do girls. thats y some girls start dating an apperent dream guy and after a month of living with him they find out he's a slob, rude, abusive etc.
Or maybe ur friends jealous cause he likes you or he might be worried that this guy if you date him may sever the bond between your best friend dude and urself.
I tend to be the guy that ur talking about (not ur bestfriend guy) because i have many female friend and many have bf's already and for some reason they have problems with me so they tend to either try and be my bestfriend or they try and make me look stupid and humiliate me in public.
also one more thing jealousy tends not to be a sighn of love but of possesiveness it may look "cute" to you and ur friends but most abusive bf's start of charming and jealous and then go into abusive.

other guys always are very jelous because they want to be the number one most of the time another guy will always put down a gur that is dating a friend he wants to look as the number one best guy around

Because it indignifies their manly like or thing in life...and they will feel so ashamed and embarass because they have fallen to their wants and they did not get their objective for a particular girl and another man has won over them...
