Be honest. Tell him that you are headed different places in life. Or that you are not interested in pursuing the same type of relationship at this point in your life. It is better that he finds this out now than to be mislead and missing out on someone who is meant for him. True friends express true feelings and if you didn't care that you wouldn't be able to express this to him. It is better off this way.

hard one. Just tell him that you want to be friends if that doesn't work tell him your in a relationship that just started it always works.

whatever you do, don't have your friends push you twards him. thats what happened to me. it sucked. pull him in an area where he won't be affected by his friends. then it will go a lot painlessly.
