i am currently 27, i started to noticed hairloss at the age 22 a few days after i got a haircut. i was touching my hair and noticed hair in my hand all of a sudden, then a short time after that this itching sensation began on my head and the hairloss increased as well. through out the last 5 years i have lost hair everyday and the itching sensation never left either, at times it gets really bad and thats when alot of hair seems to fall out as well as getting these little pimples on my scalp and some red iritated lumps that either hurt or itch? then it dies down after a week or so then my hairloss will kind of stop you could say for a few days but my scalp then is dry and alot of dandruff sets in, but no hair on the pillow in the mourning or hair in my hand when i shampoo, then it starts again. ! its like a cycle?? as of now im not bald and still have alot of hair on my head, with all the hair i have lost i should be bald? but its not as thick though, what could this problem be??

You should see a doctor (dermatologist) for that. There could be other reasons to have hair loss, but alopecia areata is hairloss and is something people just get (sometimes stress) and there is no treatment for it.

Do you change shampoo and conditioner? If not then please do. use something mild like a baby shampoo and if you still have hair it can't be that bad, maybe it's the natural pattern of hair loss. Most people loose hair. Males loose it more than and earlier and at an earlier age usually. So, I would be kind to my scalp. Massage it and use a gentle shampoo and maybe a mild conditioner too just for the scalp. You can use olive oil as a moisturizer, put it on the scalp on the weekends or when you aren't going out, not a lot just enough to coat the scalp and the hair will benefit also, the hands and face love it too. As above if all else fails see the Dr. it may be something medical. A thyroid problem can cause hair loss also. Good luck.

ditto here. Im 26 and it has been going on for along time probly since i was a senior in high school. I just found out that my family has a history of thyroid problems and even though i am not clinical and it wont show up on blood tests to be treated with medication, malfunctioning thyroid can cause this.
Or it could be just hormonal or diet related.
Start using an all natural shampoo (go to a healthfood place) ..one with jojoba oil. Jojoba will remove all that stuff causing the "pimples" . It is called sebum and it clogs the hair folicles and then gets infected causing more damage and hair loss. The chemicals in shampoo also eventually clogg the folicles.
Jojoba also stimulates hair regrowth.

I just odered a 16 oz bottle of Jojoba oil from NOW foods and i got a shower cap to wear at night over my hair. It is cheap and it doesnt go bad.

Stress can do it quickly. Pregnancy too. I had it happen to me when I was about the same age. One spot a bit larger than a quarter, I was in a bad marriage and in terrible stress. A year later it all came back. I also used olive oil on it every night then put on a shower cap to sleep with and keep the scalp warm. That is an old European remedy.

Stressed out. I have seen guys with full head of hair become Yul Brenner in 2 months. Crappy diet speeds up hair loss too. Thats a start.

It sounds like you have a condition called Alopecia.

See a dermatologist. They can also check under ultra-violet light to see whether your scalp has some kind of fungus or something.
