That's what you get from drinking so much. You killed your brain cells and now you are paying the price.

in recent years there has been developments in how people are rated in intelligence and what that word actually means. Howard Gardner has identified 9 through research where people possess different aptitudes in each. It's really neat to see the world through that type of lense rather than how we see it now.

There are different learning styles too. Sometimes a teacher isn't effective at reaching all the students.

Brain chemistry can play a role. So can development. As we grow up, we pick up ways to learn our environment (and thus, knowledge) more efficiently. Not being exposed to different things can hinder someone's potential.

Supplement? Many people make a lot of money selling that sort of thing but nothing's really proven. The only thing close is the "smart" drugs, which are Ritalin, Adderall, etc. Those are just attention drugs. You may have some sort of learning disability. You can always go to a psychologist and they will test you for them. Good luck!

"Slow" doesn't mean "dumb". People learn at different paces, and that's fine. Einstein's parents worried about his intellectual development when he was a child.

I think smartness is usually a reflection of curiosity more than anything else. You're already a step ahead of most people by thinking that you don't know a lot, because that gives you room to learn and grow. If you want to understand things and learn about them and think about them, then you're probably smart. If you lack curiosity or you think you already know what's up, then you end up looking dumb. If you want to become smarter, the number one thing to do is read. Most smart people are pretty avid readers.

Some of it is genetic (how you were when you were born) but a lot of it is just how you were raised to look at life and think and be curious.

Forget supplements - if you want to get "smart", hit up your library or school, take up books, and try to learn everything you possibly can. You'd be surprised. At some point you'll reach a critical mass where everything starts tying together.

Smart is relative if you ask me. I know people who have more degrees than a thermometer and have no common sense, booksmart, life dumb. Everyone has their strong and weak points. For example, in 7th grade i was found to have a 3 grade math ability but a junior in college english ability, it didnt mean i wasn't smart, just not "smart" in math. Keep working on your strong points and worry less about the weak points!

Do you or have you every been in a library, do you every read. if you read something and don't understand the word, write them down; go to a dictionary and look them up. The computer is a tool of info; use it to open your mind. This is just a start.

I read alot. That is the key. Coming up with associations to help you remember things helps too but reading is the best and only way to increase your knowledge and be interested in what you are learning about.

Of course it has to do with genetics and how fast your brain can process things.
But sometimes i think its just about how much you really want o learn. If you aren't interested in the subject your learning about then you wont pay attention, so wont learn.
