Well, my girlfriend slipped on some ice today and scratched her face. It's not terrible but when I saw it, a panic button went off inside of me... Is that normal? It sorta hurtg me too, seein her with that cut.... Also she says it's not my fault but I wasn't payin attention to her... Am I right that I should have been there to catch her or something?

This is a classic case of misplaced guilt. You have to know that everything happens for a reason and if it was meant to be it will be. You are not at fault and you will never be. No one expected this to happen least of all you. I mean, if you knew something like this was going to happen, I am sure you would have done something. Besides, your friend is not mad at you probably because she understands that you are not at fault. It is normal for best friends to feel guilty when something horrible happens to one another. That just shows how much you care for her and it shouldn't be an outlet for your guilt.

She slipped on some ice, it happens everyday at some part of the world... It's not a big deal, she got cut up a little, she will heal, I wouldn't worry about stuff like that if I were you, life is way to short to think the way you do...

No. Quit worrying. She's your girlfriend, not your daughter.

Besides, I'm sure that the time it takes gravity to drag a girl down is less than the time it takes for your brain to send a motor neuron impulse to your arms to catch her.

It's nice that you care for her but would SHE feel the same "panic button" if the roles were reversed? If not, you should think hard about it.

You're feeling this way because you are male. It is the male instinct to protect his female and by her falling you feel that it was your fault she got hurt. You also saw how helpless she looked and wanted to come to her rescue and thats adorable. And no you are not guilty for not paying attention these things happen. Just tell her how happy you are that she is alright. ;)

Try not to worry about it. It's totally normal for another partner to feel physical pain felt by their boyfriend or girlfriend. It's not your fault accidents happen.

Aww, you are an extra sweet and sensitive person. What hurts her hurts you. Don't feel guilty. Accidents happen. Hold onto her next time.
