I recently switched hair spray and my cat seems to be in love with it, I wake up with her licking me head or even biting it. Are the chemicals in some aerosols that are like kitty crack or does she just fancy the fragrance? Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get her to stop attacking my head?

Its Aussie Volumizing Hair Spray, and she's done it to my boyfriend before, eaten his hair gel or something... thats why I thought it might a common ingredient in many hair care products. She's just goofy :)

My cat always goes bananas when I get home from the hair salon. Obviously she is attracted to whatever hair products they use there. My own regular mousse and spray don't turn her on. Just those from the beauty parlor. Just make sure your kitty doesn't swallow strands of your hair. I've found that shaking a magazine at my cat makes her stop doing whatever she's not supposed to be doing.

LOL
Yeah ,Heather,
you have a problem,lol.
Did you happen to notice it's March??
All the cats (and dogs) are acting weird.Even the spade ones!
My kitty was just happy to stare at the blank wall for a couple hours a day and suddenly shes taking down our 60 lbs dog and scaring the crap outta her. She does this every few mos and my dog never gets used to it.
here is your solution tho.
Get a stuffed animal off your dresser and spray it with the new hairspray . Open your closet door just a crack so she has to "hunt" for it. It will take her mind off you, girl.
Good luck....and sleep well!

Cats are weird.... it's probably the perfume that she likes. I'd try another brand of hairspray, especially if she's never done this before. Aussie does have a pretty strong scent. Mine goes nuts for strawberries or anything strawberry-scented, and will lick the nozzle of the Windex bottle if I leave it out on the counter. All housecats are crackers in one way or another.

Switch back to the old stuff. I've had that experience with some shampoo and my cats, and that was the only permanent solution. Either that or get the same brand only unscented.

I used to have a cat that did that to my hair, especially after washing it. I did nothing about it. Just learned to enjoy him and now that he's passed I am remembering him doing that as a good memory.

Depends on what's in it.. Lots of hairsprays are full of alcohol... Could be she is a little drunk... I would switch hairsprays to something that isn't toxic, if you are going to allow her to lick it.. Make sure she isn't smoking when you are spraying!

I bet there is some kind of petroleum ingredient in your hairspray... some cats like to lick objects made from or partly made from petroleum (like plastic).

she likes the taste of the hair spray. you'll probably have to switch brands for her to stop.
