i just got a cat and was wondering some things
how old is a cat to be considered an adult? because my 1 year old cat is eating adult food.
my cat was very calm yesterday and stuff but today she got really like nervious and jumpy?
and is the cat just playing around when she staches you? she was like kind of using both her paws and lightly trying to clim my arm? would i say? but i was lying on the ground.
how long does a cat take to recover from spaying?
thanks!

She is young and she will recover quickly from spaying! From a sign in my cats Vets office a cat is about 24 years old compared to a human at one year of age. A cat will thereafter age about 4 years for every one year. So yes at on human year your baby is equivalent to 24 years old and that is an adult.

A cat is no longer considered a kitten after 4 to 6 months. A cat is definately considered an adult by the age of 1. She is fine with the adult food.
If you just got her, she is probablt feeling a little distressed. Give her some time. As for the spaying, following whatever directions they give you about her. Most cats are pretty active a day or so after, but I would give her a few before you get nervous.
She may very well be playing when she scratched you, but you should definately clap at her, give her a squirt of water, or shake a can at her to end that behavior. Reward her with petting and treats when she plays nice and you should eliminate the behavior.
Good Luck with your new family member!

First off, congratulations on your newest family member. A cat is an adult at 1 year. She's probably nervous and jumpy because she is still adjusting to her new environment. For the first little while, she will have better days than others, and eventually every day will be a good one. Cats will gently scratch you when they are feeling playful or loving. If she's really lovable, she will knead on you. In other words ,she's kind of petting you, like you pet her. The little red bumps you are experiencing, are probably an allergic reaction to her nails. Some people's skin are really sensitive. The reaction will either get better or worse, only time will tell. Spay recovery can take about 3 days to a week, depending on her. The younger she is, the easier it will be on her. The ideal spay age is 6 months, but getting her done a 1 year is still going to be much easier on her than waiting a couple more. I hope I helped, just a little. Good luck. :)

A cat is considered an adult at 1 year of age. She should recover from spaying in a day or 2, but be sure to keep her indoors until her stitches are removed (if removable stitches were used). Cats generally live longer if you keep them indoors all the time.
As for being calm one day and jumpy the next, she may feel a change in the weather or in your mood or she might just be being a cat. Their moods change just like ours do.
If she scratches when she's gently pawing your arm it's play. If she grabs you hard with her claws and/or teeth it could still be play, but try to discourage that kind of rough play for your own safety. Cat scratches and bites can become very infected very quickly. If she grabs you and won't let go don't try to pull away. Instead push your hand toward her. They usually let go then and you can pull away slowly. Remember cats are natural predators. They are programmed to hang on tighter if something struggles and will do this even in play.
May you have many wonderful years with your new feline friend.

Cats are funny and moody . She is probably playing . You should provide a scratching post for her to claw on and plenty of cat toys .My cat hates thunder storms , loud noises like the vacuum cleaner . She is a rescue kitty so she may have had some bad experiences . Cats can also get frightened of flashing ,or moving lights, or shadows in a room . A cat is not fully healed after spaying until 6 weeks after the surgery but within a few days she should be acting normally . You should not use regular litter during the first week , only shredded newspaper . Go by what your vet recommends . They usually do not want the cat to jump around a lot for a few days to a week .I would consider a cat to be an adult at one year of age .

1 is not an adult. An adult cat is considered to be 3 and up. my kitten eats adult food and she is only 6 months.the kind of food they like depends on what they like to eat and how strong their teeth are.
Maybe an animal, or even the weather can change your cats mood changes. not a big deal.
a KITTEN is just playing around when it scrathces you because they don't know when enough is enough. cats migh accidentally scratch you if they are knawing on you. if it worries you so much than get the nails cut(only for indoors.)Knawing is when they are pushing on you a paw at a time and when they lift the paw up, it curls so the nail might get caught on something, and some peps say its a scratch. its not.
it should not take that long at all!!!
3-4 days max. my cat was good in 2 days.

She is fine w/ adult food at this point.
Weather, a full moon, different things can affect a cat's mood.
They tend to be a pet that sleeps a fair amount, but sometimes they can get pretty spunky and silly.
I don't know what Staches you means?!?
She'll be quiet and sleepy for a few days, 3 or 4 days and she'll
be feeling back to normal basically. Some cats don't act like they were spayed at all, others play it for all it's worth.

I have had cats that one minute they are purring and nice then something changes, and they give you a nice hard bite. They get cranky if they don't get their 27 naps in per day. Most cats recover in a couple days from being spay.

can't tell how old she is by the info.....Keep your cat indoors if possible ,get all the shots she needs, good cat food and get her nails clipped.
Sounds like you have a great cat...she's playing with you...
About the scratch bumps.always wash with warm after your cat scratches you ....
And above all get your cat spayed or neutered !
