I have Night and Day "up to 30 nights continuous wear" disposable soft contact lenses ..... I kind of lost track of how long I'd been wearing them ... I left them in for more than a month like it says. I certainly don't plan on intentionally doing that again. The only thing that happened was they got dry and uncomfortable... I'm wondering how badly I can damage my eyes if I keep that up. I'm trying to be more organized and writing down when I put each pair in and stuff .... How bad can that be, though?

I have acuvue extended wear and go months at a time without changing ym contacts- I haven't had any eye problems and my eye doctor hasnt said there's anything wrong with it. I know it's time to switch them out when I develop a protein deposit on my contacts- usually indicated by the appearance of something on my contacts that won't go away with blinking- I wear each pair of contacts for about 2-4 months at a time. I have had incidents though, I must inform you, when my eyes become excessively dry and the contact falls out before the 2-4 month period- i always switch them out after that.

well, if it gets too dry, the lense will stick to your eye more and more until it's almost impossible to get out. And at a point, you will have to have like an operation of some sort. And that can get dangerous. Just get those lenses where u leave em in for like 14-18 hrs. So u don't get tempted to do that.

The main problem is that your eyes can get too deprived of oxygen, which can cause blood vessels to grow towards your cornea (this happened to me). Also, your eyes can dry out (uncomfortable!!). Plus, if you get an infection due to dirty contacts, you may no longer be able to wear contacts. (This happened to my dad.) Often, people's eyes don't tolerate contacts as well as they age; I'd suggest giving your eyes a break while you're young so you can keep wearing your contacts as long as you can!

It's not terrible, but it is pretty bad. Leaving your contacts in too long can deprive your eye balls of oxygen and make them more prone to diseases like styes and infections. You can also get major irration on the inside of your lids. Make sure you switch them out as close as you can and keep them clean...
You won't go blind but you might be miserable.

Good Luck!

you should switch to dailies. they allow less time for bacteria to infest on the lense. how ever, with today's technonlogy, they probably allow you to wear your contacts for longer that a month. ask your docter.

You don't want to do that--infections can result and be serious-very serious so if still inflammed quit wearing and see your eye doc asap
