when you squeeze hard you definitely feel more tired. is it more effective or does it not do anything? 10 points to anyone who answers well.

It's better to flex the muscle as you lift.

What you are doing is an isometric contraction when you squeeze, you may be activating the muscles you are lifting more or maybe not. So if it is those same muscles you are getting an increase in work load, but it is no different if you add more weight and lift more, because then you are going through the whole range of motion through lifting which is better than staying in one position.
