I have an assignment that has to be written 250 to 275 words long. I'm not super savy. Will Word count this for me? If so how?

Click TOOLS at the top, then select WORD COUNT. Pretty sure it is 3rd option down. I have Word 2002.

Look under the tools menu at the top of the screen and word count is an option under there.

Yes it does count your words that you type.
it will also count the number of characters typed and paragraphs.

It does.
Under the File menu, click on properties, then click the statistics tab.

yes its a toolbar you have to enable highlight what you want it to count brfore using it
