Well, she needs to start eating healthier and portioning her meals. Make sure she cuts all of the junkfood out of her diet and starts eating healthy. 6 small meals a day is the best, unless she's in school and can only eat at lunch. She needs to start exercising. Tell her to start weight lifting, running or walking, doing crunches, push-ups, everything else.

The first question you should be asking is does SHE want to lose weight??? Weight loss is only successful if the actual overweight person wants to change for themselves. No amount of pressure or hints from friends or family will work. In fact, sometimes, the more other people try to influence, the worse it will get.

I'd suggest you focus on eating healthy (plenty of fresh fruit and steamed or raw vegetables, fish, water, etc) and getting exercise. The rest will fall into place. Some people have a healthy, balanced diet and exercise and will never be petite (due to genetics) - but that should be o.k. Our society focuses far too much on weight and appearance. It's very sad.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

First things first, has a doctor diagnosed her as overweight? Does she recognize if there is one a need to lose weight? Is she willing to do what it takes to safety lose weight and maintain a healthy weight? If all answers above are yes then have the respect to offer help but don't push her. It could have adverse effects. I know cutting out pop and replacing it with water does wonders, as well as a doctor approved exercise regime.

Check with her doctor to see if she can exercise. You care about your sister start taking short walks with her. Walk for 15 minutes in one direction, then walk back to were you started. Leave those bad fast food alone. Drink water and get rest. Go on line and find out the best ways to start walking.

Just tell her to exercise more(whatever she enjoys), eat more whole grains(whole wheat) foods, more fruits and veggies. Less junk food, we all know what that is.

Also to encourage her maybe you could join her, even if you don't have to lose weight, her knowing you're doing it too could help. But underplay any weight loss you experience, remember it's more about her.
