They are like tiny pockets in the very back of my mouth at the opening of my throat. . They fill with what I assume is plaque, maybe. Anyway it becomes like hard white sfuff. I can "pick" it out with a q-tip and whatever it is it smells really bad. I know this is sooo gross! Sorry! Anyway it only happens maybe once every couple of months but it is really nasty and I don't know what it is. I don't want to ask my doctor, too gross, but maybe someone knows. When the little white "clumps" (they are very small, like the size if a sharpened pencil led) start to push their way out of the"pocket" I can smell it on my breath or even when I just open my mouth. What the hell is this. Anyone??? I know this is sooo gross but please if anyone has the same thing or knows...I would really appreciate it!

HP123,
SO WHAT ARE THESE SMALLS, STINKY HARD THINGS?
WHAT FORMS THEM?
IS THIS NORMAL OR DANGEROUS?

THESE THINGS ARE CALLED TONSILLITHS. THEY COME FROM THE TONSILS AT EITHER SIDE OF THE BACK OF YOUR THROAT.
THEY ARE FORMED BY BACTERIA AND WHITE BLOOD IMMUNE CELLS. THEY SMELL SO BAD BECAUSE THE BACTERIA AND IMMUNE CELLS SECRETE VOLATILE SULFUR COMPOUNDS.
A SAFE WAY TO GET RID OF THESE STONES WHEN YOU SEE THEM IS TO USE A WATERPIK IRRIGATOR (ABOUT $40[US]), TO EFFECTIVELY AND GENTLY JUST FLUSH THEM OUT OF THE POCKETS (tonsil's crypts).
YOU DON'T WANT TO USING A SHARP OBJECT TO POKE AT THE TONSILS.
ARE THESE NODULES NORMAL?
YES, IF YOU HAVE TONSILS.
MOST PEOPLE END UP SWALLOWING THEM DURING SLEEP.
ARE THEY DANGEROUS?
NOT AT ALL.IT'S JUST YOUR BODY GETTING RID OF BACTERIA IN YOUR THROAT.

Actually, don't worry about it. The things (don't even think they have a technical term) happen only to people who have crypts on their tonsils. These things are a combination of plaque, dead cells from your tonsils, bacteria, and saliva. Not all people get these things because not all tonsils have crypts. The people with smooth tonsils end up swallowing this hunk of gunk in every day life in portions so small they are unaware of it. This stuff will not hurt you in any way. I've had them (or at least noticed them) since I was little. You do need to make sure you keep it cleaned out because they can become big enough to be painful. Be glad you get them, at least these gross things don't end up in your belly!

Well... it kinda sounds like strep throat to me. But I'm not an expert. Suck it up, and go see a doctor.
