Having a fever isn't an illness, it's a mechanism that the body uses to fight off illnesses. Therefore, if a person gets a fever, it does mean that the body has an illness that it's trying to fight off. I really don't know about the mouth sores... but my guess is that he or she may have herpes I (as opposed to herpes II which is genital). I know that you can get a fever with the first outbreak, and sometimes with subsequent outbreaks. Also, some people get fevers far more easily than others. In any case, if the fever and the sores consistently happen simultaneously, I think you're friend should consult a doctor.

Fever is the body's defense mechanism against infection. So, if your friend has fever, he has an infection somewhere. It could be anything from a mouth infection to appendicitis. The only way to know for sure what's causing it is to see a doctor. He'll take a thorough history, do a physical and probably some lab work. It could be bacterial or viral. Urge your friend to do this soon. Your diet does not cause fever unless you eat food that is spoiled or contaminated, and that could give you an infection.

Fever is a sign of illness and INFECTION.
Not normally an indication of disease.
Your friend needs to go see a doctor.
Maybe a good dose of antibiotic can end the problem.

Fever is definetly a symptom of an illness. I don't know what exactly is going on but the best bet is to go to a doctor who does.
Get that checked out

A fever is usually a sign that your body is trying to fight something. You mentioned a diet, maybe his immune system has gone down, change diet or start taking vitamins.
