I had a big problem with not being able to get to sleep. Then I found this tea at the health food store called Night Time Melatonin Tea (I don't like taking meds. if I don't have to). It works like a charm! It has natural herbs and melatonin (which is naturally produced by our bodies). I just make myself a cup just before bed, and I can doze right off! And I don't have that drowsy feeling when I wake up, either. I'm all for a natural remedy if I can find one! Try it and good luck!

This is a technic that works for me. When I get into bed, I start with my toes and work up to my nose telling the areas to relax, actually concentrate on relaxing them.
Another way is to try counting backwards (like what they do in the hospital when they are putting you under).
Also, before bed, warm bath, turning down the lights, quiet in the room helps.
Personally I suffer from horrible insomia and have tried many things over the years, but the above ones work better than any drug and there is no handover or medicine head the next morning.
Nyquil will work for awhile, but it is like taking a drink before bed, it can be conterproductive.
Exercise an hour before bed, not right before, I take a walk about 8:00 in the evening, that clears my head, makes me relaxed

Valium, but if you aren't into drugs I would say urn off all the lights, try not to focus on anything at all and let your mind drift. Before you know it you wake up the next morning.
I have had insomnia all my life this usually works for me. It takes some discipline in that you need to learn to bannish all thoughts from your mind so that you can relax.
Reading also puts me to sleep, even if I am really into the book the calming effect of just lying there reading seems to make me drowsy,. Try it!

- chamomile tea (supposed to relax you)
- hot bath
- exercise
- stretching, like yoga
- aromatherapy like Calming Night Bodywash
- a full tummy although some people believe that's bad

exercise.... get tired physically...and mentally..may be by reading..or doing some puzzles.
reduce the amount of caffeine, don't drink too much coffee , soda, tea, even stop eating chocolates. have a good dinner, don't sleep with empty stomach, the temp of your room should be on colder side.
i hope this helps

try yoga or deep breathing exercises. those can be relaxing and put you to sleep. make sure you are not doing anything else in your bedroom, otherwise you are confusing your body.. bed is for sleeping. not watching tv or talking on the phone or anything else.
