I'm thinking about getting a pomegranate tattoo, but I'm afraid it will look like a blob in a couple of years. Is red, and pink a lasting color for a tattoo? Or should I think about getting something different?

hmmm. all colors will fade--ha that was the easy part of the answer! I'd say black fades the most: it is the darkest and will fade lot, but still stay beautifully black, for the same reasons. White will change over time, fade and get yellowish. Pink and red will fade a little less, but less noticably AS LONG AS YOUR TATOO ARTIST DOES A GOOD JOB! just make sure you are not allergic: these are the colors which create the most problems as far as alergies are concerned! Have fun with the whole tattoo process!!
PS: the best way to find out more: go to see a professional: they will be thrilled to answer all of these questions!

I have found that white and yellow fade the quickest. I have tattoos with red, blue, hot pink and black and those colors hold up pretty well. The main thing to remember is to use sunscreen and try to keep tattoos out of the sun because sunlight fades them. Keeping them moisturized also helps the tattoos looking fresh. I have had mine since 1997 and I have found that my anklet has stayed brighter than my shoulder because my shoulder was over exposed to sunlight...

Good luck!

In my case green faded faster, but it also depends on the individuals skin tone. I think red would fade fairly fast, I know I have a Buddha that looks like he got dipped in bleach because of the green being so faded. Also remember, skin stretches with age, and it will affect your tattoo. Where are you thinking of getting the tattoo would it be exposed all the time, do you moisturize the area regularly? These are all factors.

Hi there Megan***

I have had my tattoo for 10 years now and none of the colours have faded at all.

I have a "Bad Girl" tattoo on the small of my back lying on her side at the beach, she has denim colour shorts and a pink bikini top on, and long blonde hair. All the colours are still perfect.

I love the beach, and I surf a lot so I am always tanned.

I think it depends on your choice of the, tattoist. Make sure you shop around for the right one.

Red has faded the fastest on me.. It's not an allover fade though.. just a couple of places. I'd say don't worry too much about the fading.. everybody eventually needs touch ups.

I had a heart with a rose through it put on my shoulder. The person that did it told me not to have the rose colored yellow because it fades so fast. Most other colors last.
