Your partners loyalty lies with you....not his mother. I am afraid that its pretty low odds to win the mother - in - law lottery, and it looks like you lost! I don't know why mothers are so protective and pathetic over there sons - but a word of advice....sort it out now before things escalate. Go to counselling or confront her - but don't let her get the better of you.

Rest assured - you are not the only one with the mother in law from hell.......there are lots of women facing the same thing. There should be laws restricting mothers access to their sons over 18 yrs, with special supervised visiting rights after marriage... GOOD LUCK!!

My mother in law is like that, too, and my husband acknowledges that she's a little obnoxious, but he won't make her stop. After 15 years I still haven't found an appropriate way to handle it, so I volunteer to work on the holidays. My kids miss me but I try to make up for it when I get a day off, and at least I'm not interfering with her relationship with the grandkids. I also make myself feel better by talking crap about the old bat on the internet, and letting the kids make her cookies- ugh! (just kidding) Oh, and she's not in my will! And I picked the short straw, so I get to pick her retirement home. lol. I think I'll open my own retirement home. I'll call it the home for "mean old nasty mothers in law." Diapers will only be changed on Tuesdays, and it's eggplant for every meal. And the TV will only have one channel- I'm thinking the golf channel. Tee-hee. Do I sound a little vindictive?

i can understand wat u r going thru rt now. i believe u r from india, so u shud understand that indian society is like this. when the son is married the moms start to feel insecured and in such an insecurity they like to grab their son's attention towards them only so that the son doesnt at any cost leave his parents. thus they play politics.
According to ur sayings i believe that ur husband doesnt let u down too, take it as ur victory.
Mostly all girls when married go thru these ups and downs and they end up begging/crying etc etc.
But just give it a thot for once wat a husband/son faces when he is in such a situation? he cant ignore his mother who has given him birth and been there most of his life, neither does he want to ignore his wife who is after all his liability now. he loves u but dont misunderstand him.
And as far as ur in laws r concerned let them play wat they want to, do tell him wat all is happening but dont keep on repeating it. let him analyse and think. give him some time and he may wake up one day just for u. b always gud to him. God bless u both.

Tell the inlaw they should go into politics. They have all the qualifications for being a politician. (Never trust a politician, they're all crooks)

Just learn to deal with it and be diplomatic, everyone is not like you or has to be like you.
