In this day and age where security is a major issue, x-ray machines are found in most office buildings. I pack a lunch and put in my briefcase and then it runs thru an x-ray machine when I enter my workplace. Could this pose any potential health problems?

No, running your food through an x-ray machine is not the least bit harmful to you.

In fact, food such as fruits & vegetables are irradiated to prolong shelf life. Such a procedure requires much higher levels of radiation than an x-ray machine emits.

No, there is no residual radiation or any changes to your lunch.
