You should really wait until you don't need permission. 18 is not too much to ask for. You have your whole life to enjoy tattoos, and collecting them. If you wait you will be happier with your decision. If I hadn't waited I would have ended up with a sleeve of stuff I am not into anymore. Just give it time, save a bunch of cash, and get a really nice tat.

Here's a link from an internet source re: Wisconsin law as it pertains to TATTOOS & PIERCING.

What do you think you'd like to have tattooed on you?

It does not matter WHAT you decide to have permanently inked into your skin; your opinion of it, (the subject matter) WILL change as you get older. What seems cute and appropriate to you TODAY will, one day, (and sooner than you think) be an embarrassment and an issue of constant regret as you leave other elements of your youth behind,.. but you're saddled with a blurring & fading tattoo that reflects the mind of a teenager.

I know that this sounds like some old person talking down to you and that you feel confident that you "know what you want", but BELIEVE ME you'll regret it. I've spoken to DOZENS of people ranging in age from their late 20's to mid-40's who have had tattoos since their late teens to mid-20's and the overwhelming majority express regret over having made a decision that would affect them for so long while they were so young. NONE of the others would state that they were actually "happy" with their tattoos. I know that there are always exceptions, but there's no room to play around here. Do you REALLY want to make this decision at this young age?

If you feel the need to get a tattoo due to peer-pressure,.. Think about this,.. There's nothing more cool than being your own person,.. 'not because your Parents "make" you DO or BE anything or because some old fart on Yahoo Answers filled your head w/ freaky crap, but because YOU are in control and YOU choose NOT to follow the crowd on certain things! I have no idea of where you are in you life right now or where you're going, but I'll bet that there's no one in your little circle of tattooed friends that will make, (or give) one damn about you in just a handful of years. Wouldn't it suck to look down, (or wherever) and see some childish reminder of these fading memories & near forgotten friends, UNDER YOUR SKIN?!?

Please think about this before you do something you're going to regret!!

You don't want to go to a place that will do that illegally. You don't know what other rules and regulations that they are lax on if they are willing to do this. They could lose their license over that...if they're willing to do that, what else could they be lax on? What's the big deal about waiting until you're 18???
