My lacrosse season has started and I have not been working on my running and speed. I am 20 144 ibs and 5'5 I got jogging once in awhile. If i start training now, how long will it take me to get in good shape and become a fast runner? What are some things I can do to improve my speed? Thank you

first things first. take it slow!!!!! i know it's tempting to try to go all out but if you take it to quickly you can injure yourself. i would start with going to the track and starting at the beginning of a curve jog then when you get to the straight away start running at your current full speed. when you get to the curve jog again. do a few laps your first day like this make sure you warm up properly and stretch properly. if you aren't sore the next day up it to one more lap like that the next day then gradually work your way up through the week. if you are sore then stay at the same number of laps the next day. after the first week bring someone who is about the same speed as you and race each other i this way. also weight training up to 5 days a week (no more than that) also doing sprint drills on a basket ball court or football field where you run from one line to the next (on a football field obviously it would be more than one line since one line is only a yard) when you get to the next line reach down and touch the line pop right back up sprint right back to the original line touch that then repeat several reps. i would do this in the third week you should be in shape at least decently at the end of the third week you'll still be a little sore some days but you should be past all of that. your coach should also be able to give you some ideas.

I never ran before last year. I have always worked out though. As for how to get started running, here is what i did. Start on the treadmill and work your way up to 1 mile every 12 mins ( I did every 10 mins). You have to increase you speed (until you reach 12 mins) aggressively each week. I say set a goal of 4 weeks. Then you MUST work your way up to the same speed OUTSIDE. Outside is way different than inside on a treadmill. I finally ran a 5k marathon at 9 mins per mile. Running is great for shedding some fat pounds. Make sure you eat carbohydrates before run. Even if you are going to run in the morning eat them before you go to bed. It is key in distance running. And make sure you eat light right after you finish or you will be ruined for the rest of the day. You will still lose weight don't worry. MOST IMPORTANT THING IS WORKOUT HARD EVERYTIME, I MEAN EVERYTIME!!! Or don't bother.

Our goal is to make sure you start training LIGHT. We want you to keep trianing LIGHT so you can do it everyday.

We will make you FASTER through SKIP ROPE Method.

1. Skip rope. Do exactly 150 and don't take no longer than a 2 sec break in between. So you should be hopping every sec. Your goal do 150 in 2 minutes. You gone feel it baby. And tip toe when you doing it. Stay on your toes. So tip toe and jump then make sure land back on the floor on your toes.

This way is easy, quick, you don't have to go on the beach, or watse time putting on clothes to jog, and it's safe.

After you complete that and you see how tired you are, REST sweety. Your body needs to get used to the exercises.

Then do this everyday except Sat, and Sun. Do this for the next month. AND don't miss a session.

Then after a month do 2 sets of 150 in 2min.

EXERCISE PLAN
1. Do 150 skip rope in 2min, REST for 5 min and do another 150 skip rope 2 min.

That's it
