Yes, there is a taste difference. One, they are different species. Two, like wine and grapes, a lot of the taste is based on climate and soil conditions.
Now, if you are not a professional olive oil taster, you may not be able to tell much of a difference, but they are there.

There are different species, and therefore you can also tell from the color of the oil that they come from different species. Italian species are sweeter, for "oil imported from Italy" can mean Italian or Spanish because Spain exports a lot of olives to Italy. Spanish is Spanish.
If you are not picky, Italian will do, otherwise better quality will be from Spain or Greece.

i dont know the exact difference cos we just buy plain olive oil, but italian and spanish olives are different. i dont exactly know the difference cos im not really an olive eater but i know they are different and therefore would assume the oils are different also.

Not in terms of quality. That's where the Virgin ratings come in, with Extra-Virgin being the best.
