Bubble and squeak is an old English dish which consists of leftover cabbage/sprouts/greens and mashed potato or leftover roast potatoes. Mash everything together and form into a 'pancake', shallow fry in oil or fat until crispy and brown on both sides, season well and serve with cold meats. The name Bubble and Squeak refers to the noises and sounds made during the cooking process.

Bubble and squeak - that is something I have not had for years and it is good! Bubble and Squeak is a term for basic mashed potatoes (either store bought or boiling potatoes in water first with salt, milk, and seasoning salt or regular salt, and butter mashed first). Next, you boil and strain spinach and then mix it into the mashed potatoes. After this, you lightly cover a frying pan with oil (Virgin Olive Oil is the best), and sprinkle a little more seasoning salt down (depending on your preference- do you like it salty or light?), and fry it all together like a pancake (until it is golden brown on both sides). As for brewing coffee, that's really up to you. I believe that French press is similar to those coffee makers that you buy at Starbucks- it may be quite strong- like Exspresso, if you like this (I have never used one do you may want to look this up on the Internet to get more accurate details). However, an automatic coffee maker would probably give you more instructions and choices on how you like your coffee done and the type of texture you want.

Bubble and squeak is fantastic! All you need is some mashed potato, cabbage and a little salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes, add the cabbage (pre cooked) and some salt and pepper then make into thick disks. Fry in very shallow oil and serve. Very easy and great with brown sauce!

Bubble and squeak is fabulous. It's traditionally eaten as part of a 'full english' breakfast, but it becoming quite trendy in restaurants these days (as is black pudding another 'full english' essential).

Use left over green vegetables - I like cabbage and peas - onions and cold mashed potato. Mix them together thoroughly and form into 'patties' like hamburgers. I usually give them a light coating of flour to help hold them together, then shallow fry in a pan, turning occasionally till brown and crisp on both sides.

Bubble and Squeak. Any leftover veg mixed together, cook yourself a few more potatoes and mash them up. Just basically throw it in a very hot frying pan. For a sauce there is only 1 Bisto. Mmm Bisto.

As for the coffee.......... I guess it all boils down to personal taste....... some people like the Cafetiere (or "French press" as I guess it's otherwise known as)....... while I can't stand coffee with boiled water in it, only boiled milk (or in my case just stick a mug of milk in the microwave for two minutes, and stir in some instant coffee granules + 3 sugars).......... and I guess also on the brand of coffee used.

God my mom used to make bubble and squeak. Its so good. She made a simple white sauce (found in literally any cookbook). Boil one head of cabbage, cut into about 8-12 pieces (well, and then boil) cook one pound of (no casing) sausage until browned. Mix the ingredients and put in a cassarole pan (cover with foil) 350 degrees until it bubbles around the edges. (about 30 min)
Good luck! My email is witchymama22@yahoo.com if you need any more help!
(best coffee is not about brewer, its all about the coffee!)

Can't answer you questions but just to say when on a recent holiday to N.Z. a friend of my sister taught people twice a week at evening classes how to make coffee and how to clean out their coffee machines. Apparently it is very important that the coffee machine is cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis to ensure the coffee taste is not impaired
