No I don't think you are worrying too much, i have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and if the Doctor said she had blood in her urine I'd freak out completely! I would have told them that bloody urine sounds pretty serious to me and that I don't want to wait until Friday to find out what the problem is. I have had too many experiences where the doctor told me my whatever tests would take a while and then by the time they came back it was something important and had or could have gotten worse if it had taken any longer. My Grandmother actually past away because they misdiagnosed her symptoms as a stroke but by the time they did tests and found out it was acctually an infection in a replacement heart valve, it had spread to so many organs it was untreatable....not to scare you....but if the doctor still seemed concerned and it was my daughter, I'd probably take her into the ER. I'm not rich but I would rather have an ER bill and have to sit for awhile to find out the lab results now then to wait for 2 or 3 more days and risk finding out it was something that needed those extra daya of treatment. Hope this helps, hope she is ok and gets better...i know what it's like to be a mother worrying about your baby!

Well, they're treating your daughter for a bladder infection.
And often, in little kids with bladder infections, they worry about a condition called "kidney reflux," or VUR, where the valves between the kidneys and the bladder (which are supposed to be one-way, exit-only) are "leaky" and allow urine to flow both directions. This can cause repeated bladder and kidney infections, and, in worst cases, scarring of the kidneys.
But they usually diagnose VUR through imaging exams at your local children's hospital. So I'm not sure what tests your doctor is waiting on?
Both of my daughters have VUR. They're likely to grow out of the condition as they age, but if they still have it by the time they're five, the pediatrician will consider a surgical correction. Until then, they take a small dose of preventive antibiotics every day, and we haven't had an additional bladder infections since we started the drugs.

Blood in urine can be the sign of a bladder infection. Antibotics will take care of it. There are some other more serious causes. However for the most part is't just the Bladder infection, He is just taking procautions and ruling out any other possiblity.
Some possible causes can be the way she is wiping herself. If she is potty trained.
Can be the kind of diaper she is using.
The toliet tissue. Make sure it's white and fragrance free and chemical free. Some come with Aloe and Aloe is suppose to be good however it might cause an infection.
NO bubble baths. Bubble baths might also cause an infection.

Blood in urine is usually a sign of a bladder infection. The lining on the bladder is irritated and may bleed. I just went through this with my daughter. She had to take an antibiotic and things were better. Just wait till you get the results. Good Luck

If you want an answer as to what else might be going through his mind, as disturbing as it might sound, it could be he's thinking abuse. unless he found a source for the pain and the bleeding outright, that's always in the back of healthcare providers minds. i only bring this up because i'm a pediatric er nurse and as sick as it sounds it does happen. he's treating her for a bladder or kidney infection which can cause bleeding, if the tests come back negative, your doctor might start asking some more personal questions.

Not sure how to answer this one but I can say for you to tell the doctor as much information as possible. For they are onlydoctor's and only know what you tell them. In addition, pay attention to special details such as foods that she eats and or when it happens. At the age of three, my daughter was peeing on herself prematurely. She could not make it to the potty anywhere, and this was a concern because she was fully potty trained. I took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with a bacteria infection but it was more than likely brought on by the fact that we moved into a bigger house with different unfamilar surroundings. As for I do not know if this is your situation, but I do know that small changes can effect their bodies.

This could be a urinary track infection and the antiboitoic will probably take care of it. Don't worry to much, I know that it is hard not to, but you know we women and girls tend to get these things. Girls in diapers will get infections real often, but you did not say whether or not this was a child in diapers. It is probably going to be just fine.
Good luck. I will be praying for you little one.
