I owe a 94 Yj and i was driving down the road today when i was approaching a stoplight. on the otherside of the intersection was one of those new jeep commaders or w/e. the ones that look like hummers. Anyways, he waved to me, and seeing as how he has like 5 points or none, idk for sure with all the new models, I wasnt sure wether to wave back, seeing as how they never ever wave, or to regect the wave. I sat there for a moment and thought about what to do. When he waved again, waiting for me to wave back. I have read the jeep wave rules before but i was baffled. I adventually waved back but i wasnt sure what to do. I was a little confused about y he waved at me first and did not wait for me to wave to him. I guess he had some balls driving that plastic piece of **** passed me, but im still uncertain wether or not to wave to the new suv jeeps. Any thoughts would be appriciated.

Awe the wave. Well it has been my experience that the wave is reserved for real jeep guys and gals. This is to include the new wrangler too. cj's and wranglers are a no brainer. As an owner of a Cherokee though I feel that when I am in it I have earned my wave. I have a Cherokee with 4.5 inches of lift 33's and dents were the reward for not being scared to take on the trail. I think if the owner is into the jeep thing and not just a guy that drives a jeep go ahead and wave. The liberty guy in our club refuses to wave to a compass and I agree with him. Good luck with this one it will always be an issue especially with what is coming up from Jeep.

It's the Jeep wave! All jeeps get the wave. But remember that most of us (as I suspect you do) only include willys, mj, cj, yj, tj in the definition of Jeep.

You sure that it wasn't some buddy from college? Generally I reserve my waves for any Jeep whose windshield can fold down, or any Cherokee (reg or Grand or Commander), whose owner has put effort to make it more offroad capable without making it look stupid. Normally it's personal choice, but I'm sure I won't waste a single calorie to lift my hand for a Libby, Compass or Patriot.

No wave....I reserve the wave for 2006 and older. Maybe I'll nod to the 2 door....but NO wave for the H2 jr.

Jeepnuk.....the windshield does fold down.

I see it as a Jeep thing. It is not only limited to CJ's and Wranglers or lifted Jeeps. Its not called the Wrangler wave...
