this is simple, i just wrote it in detail so you don't miss any good points. TRUST ME!!! I have had the most unruley hair and this is the only way to manage it and keep it healthy. and fast. Way faster than the other options.
I have long hair, waist length
it depends on how long your hair is
section off your hair into two parts
1 st part is only the crown of your head (very top)where you want volume( i usually clip it in a bun on the top of my head
2nd part is the bottom of your hair.
it really doesn't take as much as you think. You don't even need special hair products.
I don't even use hair products excepts oil on the tips of my hair. and my hair is permed.
anyway, back to the point
after you sectioned off the hair, blow dry the bottom half and straight it with a 1 1/2 inch curling iron (preferably ceramic) but I use one by con-air.
then use a scrunchy to hold back the bottom half of your hair (just so it doesn't go forward when you turn you head upside down)
now turn your head upside down and blow dry the top half of your hair. and straight it with the curling iron too. i pull the crown of my hair forward as if it were bangs (so i can see mostly) and then just straighten it with the curling iron. then flip it back and whallah. Volume!!!
a fat curling iron is its much healthier than a straightening iron and you probably have a 1" or 1 1/2" curling iron already.
Note the metal on the curling iron, do not use the ones that the metal of the iron is not shiny, those are not helpful at all, they conserve the heat too much.
By the way, using products on your hair to get volume doesn't really work, they just create weight you don't want and static.
hope this helps, i do it every day.
one more tip, if you straight your hair often, use a little bit of oil on the tips, no one can tell and everyone will make comments on how healthy your hair looks. I use and oil from BioSilk called Silk-Ease
i've seen the rest of the answers, the roundbrush only works if you have semi short hair and that creates alot of static. but really does nothing but waste time. i use to do that too.
do not straighten all your hair upside down, or blow dry it all upside down, the bottom of your hair is not really what needs the bottom, trust me, i use to do that too.
don't perm it either, i did that, now i spend more time straightening, all it did was make my hair worse

I agree...go for the round brush. split it into sections of different hair. like top hair, then the hair under the top and then the ends...i don't know if that makes sense...but i have the same problem and the round brush works great :)

attempt teasing your hair. in case you don't be attentive to what this suggests, start up on the perfect and take little products of hair and comb it interior the back backwards. and in simple terms save doing it. it is going to volumize it lots & this is somewhat attractive on blondes.

Get a root perm. It lifts your hair at the roots and will keep your hair straight and makes it look very full when blown dry.
