Wear sandals if you're going to walk with the masses. Sheesh.

I am a full time 24/7 Barefooter, and have been for over 20 years now since High School. Unfortunately, I have had to
maneuver my way around these bad hahits. I've been to other countries like Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Australia and Germany, where the streets are much cleaner, and the result
is that there are many more people who do go completely
Barefoot outdoors, as I do. Even if your not a Barefooter,
It's just plain common respect for others.

Unless you are on the beach, I think you should put shoes or at least flip-flops on. Walking barefoot through common areas is just gross. Especially in stores and restaurants. I agree that It is revolting that people spit on the sidewalks. I have almost been hit a few times in my life by flying loogies. Those people lack manners. Now, people throwing up....that is kind of a situation that can't be helped sometimes. I am sure you dont come across that on a daily basis. Unless of course you are on Bourbon Street at Mardi Gras time. But those visiting New Orleans should be aware of that possibility and should not complain as they should know the consequence.

I really don't care. I'm a full-time barefooter but I trust my skin to keep pathogens out, regardless of whether it's spit or anything else. That's what our skin is for and unless you have any injuries, it does the job well. It's not like the streets are clean even if you don't see someone spit right that second, but as long as you keep your feet on the floor, don't put them up on the table or pick at them with your hands, you're at far greater risk of catching something from what you touch with your hands; almost everyone touches their face with their hands, you'll touch food with your hands (even if you wash up before dinner you may take a cookie or snack sometimes on the road), etc, etc.

Even if there is no sh*it/puke on the sidewalk, you are still coming into contact with germs while walking barefoot. Crapping on the sidewalk is just messed up, but sometimes projectile involuntary vomiting is not controllable.

When someone is sick and has to puke, I doubt very seriously that they are worried about the person who chooses to walk around barefooted on the nasty ground.

People that spit on sidewalks should be shunned. It's not only disgusting, it's disrespectful and rude.

Not only for barefooters but everyone, I think its the most disgusting habit and there should be fines for everyone who does, you would get a fine if you dropped a paper or if you left your dog poop.

I can't exactly relate to you but i guess it is kinda of rude. Maybe you should just watch where you step or start wearing shoes or sandles.
