Bland foods are best tolerated after a stomach ailment. Your husband will be the best judge at what he can tolerate right now. Everyone has a different "comfort" food after they have had a stomach virus or food poisoning. I would offer broth, soda (that has sat out for an hour to lessen the bubbles), toast, mashed potatoes or crackers. Don't worry much about nutrition right now. Your husband just needs to get his legs back underneath him and he will be back to eating healthy again in no time.

There are lots of schools of thought on this. I always go with the what would feel good to eat right now. Let him guide you. If he feels like eating something that sounds heavy but normally a food that works for him try it in small portions.

After a bad bout of the stomach virus in college that had me drop a class the first thing I ate (and kept down) was cold pizza.

Usually I stick to cottage cheese, broth type soups (chicken noodle and such), dry toast, 7-up, and jello. After a day of this I usually jump into my usual diet.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

with any stomach problems my family has ever had we usually steer clear of any dairy products as they will easily sour the stomach. we stick to what they call the BRAT diet Bananas Rice Applesauce and Toast. These usually help to absorb the stomach acids that get stirred up during illness You should stay away from acidic food such as tomatoes and citrus bc they will just add acid. You may also try saltines like pregnant women do to help nausea and heartburn. Hope he feels better soon!

yogurt would be a good start . his stomach would actually be very sentsitive right now so you have to be gently eating-wise so start with soft food until he can tolerate it again .

You can do this by first eating nothing solid and drinking only clear liquids. A little later you can eat soft bland foods that are easy to digest.

You may start eating soft bland foods when you have not vomitted for several hours and are able to drink clear liquids without further upset. Soda crackers, toast, plain noodles, gelatin, eggs, applesauce, and bananas are good first choices. Avoid foods that are acidic, spicy, fatty, or fibrous (such as meats, coarse grains, vegetables). Also avoid dairy products. You may start eating these foods again in 3 days or so, when all signs of illness have passed.

Cancun? Probably Montezumas Revenge...horrible diarrhea, vomiting, cramping. Could have been from the water, food washed in the water, ice cubes. My ex went down and came back just as sick as you are from eating lettuce washed in their water..he usually carried his own food during a quick business trip there. It can occur up two two weeks after eating. Flush your system, replace your electrolytes, take Imodium for the diarrhea. If you continue to lose fluids and do not feel better, get to the ER. Sorry..hope you all feel better soon.

I got something in Mexico once and just ate clear soup for three days until the illness cleared. Also drank other liquids. At the time this happened the Dr. told me the virus will die without solid foods. And...it seemed to work.

Its called the BRAT diet.

Bananas
Rice
Apples
Toats

These foods will help. Also if his stomach is still upset, he can always have some saltines and WARM sprite.

Do not take any food that contains milk that was what my doctor told me. Drink only plain water. But make sure you take him to the doctor first. After medication drink lots of 100 plus drink or any isotonic drink. To get back the energy. Works like charm.

start out light with toast with a petite amount of butter (if he likes flavor on his toast) and/or crackers, maybe a little soup. to drink i'd have water and light amounts of juice. you need electrolytes so drink some gatorade and if you really are brave drink pedialite.

then after a day or so you know eat moderate portions of food you normally eat.
