If your cousin is having a baby, what are you in relation to the baby?

I know that you would be an uncle to a baby if the mother or father was your sibling, but what would you be to a baby of your cousin?

- your second cousin is if your parents are cousins, you and their kids are second cousins, can't believe how many people answer questions without knowing what they are talking about!

if it's your first cousin then the baby would be your second cousin, if the second cousin has a baby then the baby would be your third cousin and so on. when it gets to the 8th cousin, then your not considered related anymore.

Most people think the answer is second cousin - but it's not, it's first cousin once removed. YOUR kids will be second cousins to the children of your cousin. YOU are their first cousin once removed. First, Second, Third cousins etc. is basically determined if you share an ancestor at the same generational level - for example, you and your first cousin have a set of grandparents in common and they're your grandparents and his/her grandparents. If you and a cousin shared a set of great-grandparents, you'd be second cousins. However, if you don't consider the common relative to be the same generation, there's a "removed" somewhere - your grandparents are the GREAT-grandparents of your cousin's child - since you share the ancestor but not at the same generational level.
