All this bickering, going where? For what purpose? Everyone finds their truth in their own way. But we have to ask ourselves one fundamental question, why are we here? Not here on earth, but here on yahoo answers, answering and asking questions through the medium of internet. Why aren't we asking these questions to the ones we love, the ones we hate, the ones we are indifferent to? Why must we hide ourselves? Why must we segregate our lives to each other? When we figure that out, perhaps the world will know peace. Because we all need to communicate, but life interactions are so mundane, so governed by material things, this and that, necessary causes, and rarely do they reach such pinnacle depths as we display here on yahoo religion and spirituality. So my question is, why can we not do this in real life, and why must we do this on here?

Okay, maybe I should clarify my question:
Why do we not discuss this in real life? Why do we need to do it over yahoo religion and spirituality?

I'm not judging, I'm just really wondering myself and would like some opinions.

We don't have to, for some, it's just easier. Most people close to us share the same opinion regarding religion. If they don't, it's probably less hassle to not argue with them because it's rare that you change someone's mind about things like that. I'm actually not hiding. The way I am on here is the way I am in real life. I'm not a coward who needs to say mean things to people I don't know or who don't agree with me. I'm a grown up and I'm not insecure about my intelligence or my faith.

I do see your point though. I think most people just can't be bothered to discuss these things in real life and find the anonymity that the internet provides to be more secure. In some ways, that's really bad (you get annoying trolls) and in another way, it's good. Some people can't ask the things they really want to know to people they know in real life because some people might laugh at them. Besides, this is a great way to kill time and sometimes, it's fun.

The internet is a place to find answers to questions which you could not find out from asking people you know in the Real World.
For instance, given this is the Religion and Spirituality category, I doubt any parent could answer with 100% certainty who or what god is, or why people fight over religion.

I can think of three reasons why we do this on the internet. One, the internet allows us to reach a large group of people from different areas with different views. Two, this medium allows someone to ask a question or give a response without being interrupted by someone else, our views can be expressed to the full extend we desire, and even edited to our liking before others read it. Thirdly, this medium allows everyone a measure of anonymity, anyone can state their opinion or views without recourse.

I do this in real life also. I ask and answer in order to help teach.

For some, the fear of being judged outweighs the bickering and they come to ask here. Because even if they are condemned, no one knows who they are and the sting isn't so bad.

And unfortunately for some, this curtian allows them to be vicious - when in real life they are cowards.

Some people have a real question and are truly seeking answers. Hopefully they can find a genuine answer among all the rubbish. It's like sifting the pebbles out of a pot of beans.

This experience leads to understanding. I have never in my life been exposed to so much diversity! In a way, I learn to communicate with folks who I might not otherwise ever have considered speaking with because of my ignorance and fear. A lesson I imagine will prove quite valuable.

Some of us have discussed these topics with family and friends and now want to see what people around the world think. Its safe to say that sometimes someone actually has something intelligent and helpful to say.
