Nails are not made out of Zinc. They are made out of steel mostly. Are you referring to Zinc plated or Galvanized nails?

No, but most nails made for exterior use or either electro-plated with zinc or hot-dipped in zinc for protection from rust.

Most nails are made from steel. That's why the unfinished nails will rust so bad unless protected as mentioned above.

Another popular nail is an aluminum nail for its non-corrosive abilities. However, the aluminum nail is not anywhere near as strong as the steel ones.
