Sit-ups are not great. Crunches are better in my opinion, and do what you can, slowly building up in numbers (as if it was weight lifting kind of program). However, sit-ups (or crunches) will not get rid of the fat. Your abs will be tone under the fat.

Cardio workout is great for reducing fat all over the body, even the stomach. Swimming, moderate house cleaning, chasing your little ones around the house (running), biking...all of these and more will help you be able to show off the toned muscles

No.

Unfortunatly, this is a common misconception. The ONLY way to lose weight in your tummy is to diet and excercise, not do sit ups. Sit ups will increase the size and strength of your ab muscles. While this is a great way to get 6 pack abs (I am sure this isn't what you are after here), it will not make your tummy any more attractive. A person (man or woman) can have the strongest, most toned abs in the world, but if there is fat in front of them, your tummy will still look very unattractive. The solution is to lose the weight (fat) in front of your abs. This is best done by cardio excerise. Treadmill, excerise bike etc. will all be great choices. Unfortuneatly, (also contratry to popular belief) it is impossible to lose fat from a specific part of your body. You will have to lose fat from all parts of your body, and the fat infront of your tummy will disapear with it. If most of your body fat is stored in your stomach area, it will dissapear from this area more than others. It would be nice if fat could be removed from specific parts of the body (all the excersise men would ever do is situps to get rid of the beer bellies, and all running on a treadmill would do is burn fat from a person's legs and butt, but, unfortunatly, this is not how it works. So bottom line, forget the situps and do some cardio (walking, running) and a little dieting, and those few extra pounds should drop away in no time! Don't worry about doing situps, they should not be your goal right now, but, once you lose that fat and see your stomach muscles, situps will help tone your abs for more definition (abs are sexy on women too!). Good Luck!

You need to burn fat, so get out and do something you love that gets you active. Go for walks or ride a bike or do gardening or somesuch.

Also eat more whole grains, and fruits and veggies, less sugary drinks or foods or fatty foods. If you have a sweet tooth try dark chocolate, it has less of the bad stuff, more chocolate flavour, and it's great for health!

The situps only work so far to tone, and when the muscles are relaxed you may not notice. However that's not a reason not to do it if you don't love it. Do exercises for your other muscles as well, even if it's just curls with things from around the house. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn. Also it takes a lot to become bodybuilder big, a LOT, so don't think that lifting weights means you'll look like Arnold.

So again, get active and all will fall into place! Good luck!

Situps tone muscle, but don't burn fat. If you want to lose your stomach, you need to do 20 minutes of continuous aerobic exercise on a daily basis. Good luck!

Situps do NOTHING for losing fat in the stomach, aside from burning calories during the actual workout.

Diet and exercise make you thin.

Do a mix of jumping jacks and sit-ups. As many as you feel like doing!
