Endorphins are a class of hormones and include mainly 3 types. They are amino acid residues of ß-lipotropin that bind to opiate receptors in various areas of the brain and have potent analgesic effect. They are peptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates. To date, four groups of endorphins (alpha, beta, gamma and sigma) have been identified. Beta-endorphins are the most potent endogenous opioid that affects both physiological and mental processes.

Even though I really thought this answer was endorhins, I did a little research and the answer could be either of these two: opiate or an opioid. Wikipedia describes endorphins being "like" these.
