My daughter is 9 and hasn't asked anything yet, but I don't want to wait and have her learn something that isn't correct from her friends. Is she too young to have "the talk"?

I think it is always good to talk to your kids about things...even before they ask. But when it comes to sex you have to use precautions. My daughter is 11. Her body is starting to develop and she is developing tiny acne. So I know she is going through puberty. I watch her, noticing things she do and say and of course the things she doesn't say or do.
I pay attention to details about her interactions in school and her conversations on the phone with her girlfriends. I am listening for interest with BOYS.
The best way to find out if your child is interested in the opposite sex is to do their laundry. Most kids this age keep everything in their pockets including "notes".
So instead of snooping I just wash her clothes. I have learned that several boys write her letters about being her BOYFRIEND.
GULP.
Yes I said it.....huh.
So now I talk to her about dating, feelings and affections like kissing, hugging, sneak a feels, holding hands and etc.
The most important thing is reminding my daughter that she has the control every every touch she receives. I tell her to never let someone touch her unless she wants them too. I EVEN TALK TO HER ABOUT UNCOMFORTABLE TOUCHES ESPECIALLY IN HER PRIVATE AREAS.
My daughter and I very close. So far I do not think I am grossing her out. She has not said any thing.

I just try to remember what it was like when I was her age and how uncomfortable these conversations can be.So I approach her like a friend instead of a "scary, towering, I said do this mom".
I just hope she still lets me in when she is 16.

GULP...GULP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
