I wasn't fond of math either, but I liked chemistry and didn't want to have to stay in school to get a PhD before I could earn a decent salary, so I got my degree in Chemical Engineering.
The math kind of grows on you and becomes mostly second nature. Once you're out of college you rarely have need for the higher more theoretical math unless you work in a research lab.
If you are competent at math and have a field you'd like to go into, you'll probably do alright if you apply yourself.

I think you would find it somewhat tought. The math for the stuff that you are talking about can be extremely easy for some simple designs but extremely complex for complicated designs. Being an engineering student as I currently am, there is math involved in everything. I personally don't like math that much but I am able to get through it for the most part and haven't had too much a problem. I would say that if you are really into building machines then don't let the prospect of having to do some math stop you.

Yes, I am also not big fan of math but don't hate either.
I am an Engineer who enjoyed & have created many machines that is useful to many customers.
You normally just need to do calculations for critical areas of design. Also nowadays many calculations are done with softwares available which I think will help you a lot & also saves time.
Hope this helps.
Move on, the world needs more Engineers to make it a better place to live.
Cheers

I have to agree with what the person above said that the math grows on you. When I was in grade school and high school I hated math. When I started in college I had to start at the very bottom, but I ended up liking it very much. Its very interesting to use the mathematics as a tool to solve real world problems.
If you still find that you really can't stand it then engineering might not be a good field for you. As an electrical engineer I can tell you that every single class I took with the exception of 2 or 3 was very heavy in mathematics.

You'd probably find it extremely tedious. If you wanna make a machine, you have to compute the stress on the machines, the fuel, etc. There's more math than actual creating...so, I don't think you would like it that much.
Or you could be one of thsoe people that builds the designs that engineers sketch out.

I think you would definitely enjoy being an engineer, but I also think that you would definitely and absolutely hate being an engineer student.
