I'm studying mechanichal engineering and I'd have to say the same thing about how I view math. I can get through it but it's not my favorite thing to do. As long as your dedicated and are motivated to pursue it you should be fine. It definately is a tough degree to get but the pay is worth it. Just remember it's something you'll be doing every day for years of your life. You should also be fairly good at physics. If there is something other engineering that you enjoy and is worth getting a degree in (not liberal arts) than I would go for that because if possible you want to do something you enjoy.

I have to agree with Sandra, I think you should follow your dream. Your passion and perseverance and focus should help you overcome the shortcoming. Like they say, "Keep your eye on the prize." You are fortunate to have identified what you'd like to do. I'm not an engineer and have not gone to school to study engineering. I would get the catalog from some schools that offer Engineering--Georgia Tech, VA Tech, they might even have them on line and see what the graduation requirements are for the various engineering programs. Then make your high school selections accordingly so you have a taste of what you are up against. Practical application is another thing.

In my native language, Spanish, engineer means "ingeniero", which refers to use the "ingenio" or creativity, abilities for solving things, that´s what an engineer does. So, even tough being good in math could help you a lot, it shouldn´t be the main reason for becoming an engineer. Besides, I think the best is studding to do something you really love to do, because it´s what you´re going to do for the rest of your life.

if you don't mind doing alot of math and physics, and it looks like you wouldn't, you could be an engineer, however, you should know that you will be useing math everyday of your career.

I am like you, not a big fan of math but I don't mind it, I think I would start to hate it if I had to do it all day everyday.

To answer your question I will put it in simple terms for you, question is how much of math do you enjoy? If your quite fond of math and you enjoy it as much as you think, then go right ahead and choose your career as an engineer. I hope this helps you, Good Luck!

Engineering is mostly math. If you don't like doing it now, it might get more interesting in the future.
