how "long" is long distance in a relationship?

Question

Im a senior in high school and am thinking about going for a girl that lives 40 minutes away. I've only met her once, but I spent the whole day with her and she's everything I've been looking for in a girl and more.

Would this be considered a long distance relationship if i got with her? because i always hear of how painful they can be, but this girl might just be worth it.

Ya 40 minutes may seem like its far away but its very due-able. Long distance relationships are the kind where you are farther away i mean I'm in one and my boyfriend lives in another state so we have to fly to see each other now that's long distance it would be great if he was only 40 minutes away. Long distance relationships are tough but you can make it work if both people really want the same thing and you are willing to do what it takes to make the relationship work. It sure sounds like you think she's worth it and hey you can always jump in the car and drive to see her. Good luck

I am in a "long distance" relationship. My boyfriend lives an hour and a half away and I wish he only lived 40 minutes away!

It just depends on how often you'll get to see her. If you have your own car, then it shouldn't be an issue as long as you want it to work. There has to be trust though. If you have any reservations now that she won't be faithful if things get more serious, then don't do it. Jealousy is a killer.

Slow down buddy! One day isn't long at all. Get some free long distance and talk on the phone until you can see her again. Do u drive? 40 Minutes driving is not bad at all, especially when u really want to see that person. Good Luck !

A "Long Distance Relationship" is anything that would be a hassle to travel to on a regular basis. 40 minutes should not be a problem for dating and visiting. So I think you're good to go and I hope she's the winner you are looking for!

I wouldn't really consider that to be a long-distance relationship because if you wanted to get together for an afternoon, it wouldn't be difficult/impossible, it would just be a pain in the neck.

Long distance, to me, would be 3 hours' distance or more. Far enough away that you can't get together for a date and return to your respective homes without much upset all within one day...

So not long distance. My boyfriend is on the other side of the world right now, we won't see eachother until July 2008...that is long distance. A short car ride away like your situation, not long distance at all

I don't think this is to long of a distance, it takes that long to get to alot of places now of days. Give it a try, she may be what you've always wanted. A long distance relationship to me, is two or three states away.

its not that long of a distance. besides if u like her that much then definately go for it. i like a girl alot 2. if i had the chance to go out with her i would do it even if she lived 2 hours away. u just have to make it work.

in my experience, long distance is how often you get to spend time together. When you are in a phone, email, snail mail relationship without seeing each other often, it can be much harder to get to know each other. They say ,;. you never really know someone unless you live with them, and I'm not meaning moving in together, but you can get a same sex room mate for cheaper rent and after a few months together hate each other.

well 40 minutes away isnt called distance relation...how ever its your heart and hers which are a distant from eachother!
