First of all you need to make sure it is a boil!! If it is a boil then you will need to take antibiotics, and if it is very big , it may need to be lanced, you really need to make sure it is a boil first though.

I used to have them including in the nose-very dangerous since it is a staph infection and can go into the brain/dealy.

Have had them elsewhere and the dr. said apply very warm pacs to draw out the infection. I also have had to have them removed by the dr. . It is really best done by the dr. as the boil contains an sac like lining he removed also. Do not,do not try and do this yourself!

just checked my Merck medical book and it said they either burst or disperse of their own accord within two weeks. If you have one longer than this,or recurrent boils, see your physician. It went on to say apply hot compress made of cotton cloth soaked in hot water to the boil every few hours. this will help relieve discomfort and hasten bursting.

Do not take baths as that can spread the infection to other parts of your body. Take showers instead. Hope this helts. They are No fun.

try warm compresses it soften the tissues and allows the boils to soften and release puss core... you may have to do this s few times.... you also need an antibacterial ointment after the re-lase of the puss core.... also a great OTC medication is BOIL--EASE you can get at your local pharmacy. even with all the above treatment sometimes you just have to bite the bullet a visit your doctor and It may have to be lance....trying taking so anti-inflammatory medication to ease the pain... good luck....I hope you feel better soon

ok... If it is a boil, then I suggest you get it lanced, then my doctor told me a sure fire way to keep it from recurring again. Put rubbing alcohol on it first, then after it dries, put neosporin or the equivalent of it. I haven't had a flareup in over a year!
