Buck can mean various things. Depending on its meaning it is used differently.
One is to "buck off" and is usually done by a horse. It means you were thrown off the horse. (The horse bucked off the clown.)
Another is as a male deer or a young, handsome man. (That's a good looking buck!)
It's also used for money. ("It cost me two bucks!" meaning it cost two dollars.)

On edge is used to describe a state of paranoia. "After seeing the horror movie about a man who killed young women, I was on edge all night!"
That means that, after seeing the horror film, the speaker was paranoid she would be killed too.

I don't use either one often.

Buck isn't often used as a negative term, but "on edge" could be considered negative since it describes you as being frightened and paranoid due to something in the past.

buck can be a motion like.. what bucking broncos do (they kick out their hind legs i think) to knock their riders off. (but it's not just the broncos other things buck..)

Also, buck is slang for Dollars: that costs five bucks.

I think "on edge" can be used to describe an emotional state when the person is very stressed, sad, anxious, etc. It does have negative connotations since it's negative feelings etc..

She was on edge because of the fight earlier with her friend.
I gave him a buck to get a can of pop.
I don't think their negative meanings but someone being on edge can mean their testy and can get po'd easy.

Buck is another word for 'dollar'. Twenty dollars, twenty bucks.

On edge just means that you feel anxious about something. Like if you have a big exam in school, you can say you feel "on edge" about it.
